31 January 2020: The Royal Enfield ‘Bullet Classic 500’ was launched over a decade ago, in 2008. Sincethen, the company’s hallmark UCE 500cc single-cylinder motorcycle has echoed Royal Eneld's traditionof the long stroke character, producing an unmistakable thump that has reverberated through thehearts of it’s riders. These 500cc motorcycles were the genesis of the Classic 350 as we know it today,and have been instrumental in Royal Enfield’s success across the world. 

Announcing the end of production of the 500cc single-cylinder, long-stroke, unit construction enginemotorcycles in India, Royal Enfield today announced an end-of-production, special series motorcycles,the Classic 500 Tribute Black Limited Edition. These motorcycles will be the the last in India to carrythe iconic long-stroke single cylinder UCE 500cc engine and will be exclusively made to order in a limitedproduction run. Each of the motorcycles will carry a hallmark commemorative ‘End of Build’ serialnumbered plaque making it unique to its owner.

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black Limited Edition motorcycles will bear the distinguishedand iconic pin-striped just like the Classic 500s that were rolled out of the Royal Enfield Thiruvottiyurfacility in 2009. For the first time, Royal Enfield will have a dual tone scheme on the fuel tank withfenders carrying glossy black and matt black. This unique all-black-livery and dual-toned shade adds aunique touch to the timeless aesthetics of the motorcycle. With an End of Builds Special Edition badgeand a trendy all-black theme, the Classic 500 Tribute Black is an absolute collector’s edition

The launch of the 650 Twin motorcycles was an obvious progression for Royal Enfield and a naturalupgrade option for millions of Royal Enfield owners. A higher powered twin cylinder motorcycle, withexcellent road manners and a characterful engine, the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650instantly captured the imagination of motorcycling audiences across the world. Given their success andquick acceptance by global audiences, the 650 Twin motorcycles have become a natural upgrade optionfor Royal Enfielders progressing from 350cc or even for motorcyclists upgrading from 150cc or 200cc.

Saltire Motorcycles Ltd ceased to trade on 31 August 2024.  Graeme Bain and Donald McNaught of Johnston Carmichael, 227 West George Street, Glasgow, G2 2ND were subsequently appointed as Joint Administrators of the company on 5 September, by Notice of Appointment by the directors lodged at Court.

The company has ceased trading and is no longer providing ongoing services or training to customers.  Any customers who are owed sums by the company and who paid by credit or debit card should contact their card provider in the first instance to establish whether their card provider is in a position to provide a refund.  Any customers who have prepaid for any goods or services by any other means, or are unable to recover sums from a card provider, should provide details of the sum outstanding by email to saltirecreditors@jcca.co.uk in order that their details may be added to the list of creditors.

Graeme Bain and Donald McNaught have been appointed as Joint Administrators of Saltire Motorcycles Limited to manage its affairs, business and property as its agents, without personal liability. Graeme Bain and Donald McNaught are licensed in the United Kingdom to act as insolvency practitioners by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.  The Joint Administrators may be considered Data Controllers of personal data as defined by GDPR. Personal data may be processed to meet legal and regulatory obligations. Johnston Carmichael LLP will act as Data Processor on the Joint Administrators’ instructions. Personal data will be kept secure and processed only for matters relating to the administration. Saltire Motorcycles Ltd remains the data controller for personal data processed for purposes that are not related to legal and regulatory obligations.
