Scottish Championship - Round 2 - East Fortune
Lewis Paterson - Yamaha R6 - Formula 600
Lewis loves East Fortune, and he proved it by having an excellent set of results at the weekend. Having qualified 4th on the grid, he managed to move up to 2nd in the one and only race on Saturday. Normally there would be 2 races on Saturday afternoon, but a series of race delays meant that these races were held over until Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday Lewis scored a 3rd, a 1st and a 3rd place in the 3 races. The race win was in the Scottish Championship race, and he rode a perfect race, taking the lead on lap two and heading a ferocious 4 rider battle for the remaining 6 laps of the race, setting his fastest lap on the last lap of the race to secure his first 600 career victory.
Owen Paterson - Aprilia RS125 - Formula 125
Owen had a really positive weekend, scoring 4 straight 3rd places in his races, out of a grid of 8 Formula 125 riders. These results meant that Owen has now scored enough points to be able to get rid of his orange bib.
Torquil Paterson - Suzuki SV650 - Lightweights
I had a nightmare weekend, but still came away with two 2nd places in the Scottish Championship races, extending my points lead at the top of the championship. In the other races I had a non-finish and a non-start. The non-finish was due to the front sprocket nut coming loose and letting the spacer behind move and leak oil onto the exhaust and back tyre. It looked like the engine had blown up! The non-start was due to the clutch starting to slip in the last race I completed.
Time to strip and check everything on the Suzuki SV650.
Next time Lewis will be out is at the British Talent Cup on the weekend of 25th to 27th May at Donington Park, unfortunately this clashes with the 3rd round of the Scottish Championship, but Owen will be at Knockhill.
